Cox Farms Kicks Off Fall Festival 2014 This Weekend! – September 16, 2014
Cox Farms eagerly awaits the start of the Fall Festival and Fields of Fear seasons! The DC area’s most famous fall festival will open its gate this Saturday, September 20-21 for Preview Weekend before being open daily September 27-November 4. It’s the 10th Anniversary of the Barn Slide, and it is celebrating in style with a stunning top-to-bottom makeover and renovation.
Continuing its reduced ticket prices on the majority of Fall Festival weekends, Cox Farms is offering a $14 ticket during Preview, Opening and Pumpkin Madness weekends (Sep 20, 21, 27 and 28; and November 1, 2). The ticket cost on Prime weekends (weekends in October) will remain the same as 2013, at $17 per person on these most popular days. Weekdays remain unchanged at $9 per person.
To support local public servants, Cox Farms offers a $5 discount on up to four tickets to public servants during two Public Servants Weekends, on Opening Weekend (September 27-28) and Pumpkin Madness Weekend (November 1-2) this year. Government employees, educators, first responders, law enforcement, nurses and members of the military can save $5 by presenting a valid badge or identification.
Cox Farms Members and Fear Fanatics receive additional discounts and offers. Sign-up is available through the website as is additional information about perks of the program, including great deals on admission for Preview Weekend and Pumpkin Madness Weekend.
In addition to the Barn Slide renovation, the festival grounds are teeming with new additions. Visitors of all ages will enjoy the “Hog Farm,” where you can hop on a retired hog (the motorcycle kind!) and take an imaginary ride. Give your arms a workout at the Duck Races- see who can pump water fastest to move their rubber ducky to the other side! In addition to tasty new treats like apple cider donuts and a Milk & Cookies stand, Cox Farms is also debuting its new Fall Festival Explorer Passport. “The Passport is a fun new activity that gets participants traveling to the far corners of the festival to stamp their passports,” explained Co-Farmer-in-Chief Aaron Cox-Leow. “And once you visit all 12 landmarks, you can show your completed passport in the market to get a prize!”
Fields of Fear emerges again on Fridays and Saturdays in 2014, boasting over a half-mile of haunted Cornightmare trail, Dark Side Hayride: Zombie Zoo, and thrilling Firegrounds hangout with giant 6-lane slide, bonfires, tasty food and exciting Fear Games.
For Cox Farms, hosting friends and families in Northern Virginia every fall is more than a tradition – it’s a passion. We truly do wait all year, and now it’s almost here!
Cox Farms has something for everyone, and guarantees you a truly wonderful day this fall.
