Music Together by Music with Maddy: A Joy Makin’ Mama’s review

If you’ve never been to a Music Together Class, you should definitely take advantage of the next opportunity for a preview class. If you’re thinking your baby is too young, think again- the room was wall-to-wall babies and they were all having fun! The youngest were firmly in the “pre-mobile” camp. My little guy got excited as soon as we walked in and the music was playing in the background. By the time the ukelele came out, he was beside himself. He played with egg shakers, learned a new word (ribbit), danced, and made friends with the other babies.

Arts on the Horizon

When you enter the lobby it’s totally child friendly. There is stroller parking in one corner, plenty of toys and dress up clothes to explore and a wide open space with plenty of mirrors for dramatic play. The bathroom is big enough to contain a parent with several kids at one time. There is a step stool for small children to wash their hands at the sink and a changing table for those who still wear diapers.

Bringing Stories to Life with At This Stage

When I arrived, all the teachers were wearing capes, the kids were all in costume, and everyone was laughing. Creative chaos was everywhere to be seen. Piles of costumes that the kids had set aside after trying on one identity or another were a colorful counterpoint to the organized activity- Rock Paper Scissors Duels- going on in the circle. A clay building activity was on hold at the craft table, and the results of the earlier Monster Mask activity (a tie-in to one of the books they read) were everywhere.
